It was all clear like gravy on white sheet. A historic night turned ugly when Ugandan Moses Golola clearly lost his Super Middleweight Intercontinental title fight to Hungarian Andras Nagy but was still crowned champion on Friday.

The final verdict read by emcee Roger Mugisha was a unanimous decision 49-46 from the red corner, which belonged to Golola. But match referee Fritz Exenberger, who is the World Kickboxing Federation chief executive director, snatched the results from Mugisha, read the same results but gave the fight to Blue Corner – Nagy. The joke, though, was not over.

Mugisha re-appeared and re-installed Golola as the winner an act that was confirmed when Uganda Kickboxing Federation (UKBF) president Hassan Ssekirime gave the belt to Golola. “I want really to thank Jesus Christ,” said the 31-year-old Ugandan.

“He couldn’t manage me and its okay if he wants a rematch. I will wait for him here in Kampala,” said Golola. But to even the naked eye, there was only one winner on the night and it wasn’t Golola, who was bleeding as early as the second round after a Nagy round-kick caught him unaware.

Dr Vincent Karuhanga had asked the referee to stop the bout in the third round after Golola bled for the third time. And to add insult to injury, Golola, despite this being his 19th career fight, showed amateurism and ignorance about kickboxing rules when he was docked a handful of points for illegal body blows.

“It was a great fight and I think I won. I am ready for a rematch any day,” the ever-calm Nagy said. His trainer Istvan Rozman was equally irked by the result. He said; “He (Golola) is not really a fighter. He is just a big talker and my fighter clearly won all rounds.”

Still, Golola may have laboured to control the fight but he had several moments where he had Nagy reeling, especially in the second and fourth rounds. But he was nothing like the ‘Hot Temper’ he brags to be.
