After his team lost 2-1 in their Club World Cup encounter against Al Sadd, Esperance captain Ousamma Darragi told reporters that he was frustrated by the amount of goal-scoring chances that went begging but remained philosophical about what he considered a positive performance by the Tunisian side.
“It’s too bad, we put forward a good match. We had a lot of chances but we couldn’t score them. It’s unfortunate. That’s just how it goes in football. They had two chances and scored both, one of a free-kick and the other during the run of play,” he said.
Darragi, who gave his team hope when he headed in the “Blood and Gold’s” only successful finish of the match to reduce the deficit to one goal, added that he thought the north Africans should have been awarded a penalty kick when Harisson Afful was brought down in the box.
“I think we deserved a penalty kick but the referee didn’t whistle it. That happens sometimes. We just have to learn from it. Hopefully next time we can do better,” he concluded.
