مروان الشماخ – منتخب المغرب (Morocco)
With the Gunners currently playing only one man up front and Robin Van Persie currently in sensational goal-scoring form, Chamakh has been restricted to just six appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
As a result, the Moroccan feels that he would be best served by a move away from the Emirates, pointing out during an interview with TF1’s ‘Telefoot’: “I’m 27. I need to play. I cannot stay like this forever.”
When asked if he would consider a move back to France, the striker was unequivocal when it came to naming his preferred destination.
“It would be Bordeaux. I am committed to this club.”
In spite of his current frustration at being consigned to the role of a reserve, Chamakh insisted that he will not push for a move during next month’s transfer window.
“I will not leave in January,” he stated. “[I will make the] important decision in June.”
Chamakh joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Bordeaux last summer, but despite making a positive start to life in north London his form dipped dramatically during the second half of the season and he has been playing a bit-part role ever since.
