Goal : Bert van Marwijk has voiced his pleasure after extending his terms with the Netherlands until 2016.
The former Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund coach maintained that he felt there was a mutual desire to continue his relationship the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) over the long haul.
“I’ve often said I’m very happy with the KNVB, and there is still plenty of talent [coming through],” Van Marwijk was quoted as saying by OnsOranje on Thursday.
“If I have a good feeling [about staying], I think it’s okay to remain there for a long time. If I’m progressing, I feel that they want to keep me, and that was the case.”
However, reports in the Netherlands had suggested that Van Marwijk had initially set his sights on only a two-year extension, but eventually gave into the KNVB’s offer of four years.
