Botswana international Jerome Ramatlhakwane will use the 2012 Africa Cup of nations to showcase his skills to a global audience after being given his clearance by Santos on Wednesday.

The striker has been in a long-running dispute with the PSL club, who claimed he was still under contract with them, while the player believed his deal had expired.

That has now been amicably put to rest and Jerome Ramatlhakwane is officially on the hunt for a new side.

But the player’s agent, Micky Paiva, says they will not make a decision on his future until after the Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, where Ramatlhakwane’s Botswana have been drawn in a tough Group D along with Ghana, Guinea and Mali.

With a host of international scouts set to be at the tournament, it is the perfect stage for the 26-year-old to market himself.

“He goes into camp with the national side for a month now and we will see what transpires after the Nations Cup,” Paiva said. “There has been some interest from PSL clubs in the past, but that was when there was a transfer fee involved which I think put a few off. But now he is a free agent, that will hopefully open up more doors.

“The Nations Cup is a good opportunity for him to do well and perhaps win a move to Europe, that would be fantastic for him and a deserved reward. But we will see happens over the coming months.”

Ramatlhakwane was among the leading scorers in the qualifiers for the Nations Cup, almost single-handedly getting his side there with home and away winners against Tunisia, as well as Togo and Chad.
