Olympique de Marseille head coach Didier Deschamps has revealed that the Ligue 1 giants will not make a move for Juventus striker Amauri in the January transfer window.
Marseille are looking to strengthen their attack this winter as they will have to make do without the services of Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan, who will both be away with Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations for the first two months of 2012 and they reportedly saw Amauri as a suitable replacement.
However, Deschamps has now stressed that the 31-year-old Amauri, who was already linked with OM last summer, is not an option.
“Amauri? I can be very clear on that, he won’t come to Marseille. We are not interested in signing him,” Deschamps was quoted as saying by France Football.
Amauri has been deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus and has yet to make his first Serie A appearance of the 2011-12 campaign. His contract with the Turin giants is due to expire in June 2012.
