Juventus coach Antonio Conte has praised Emmanuele Giaccherini as well as his team for securing qualification into the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia.
Juventus beat Bologna 1-0 on Thursday night to secure a spot in the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia, with a late strike in stoppage time by new signing Emmanuele Giaccherini.
It was the Bianconeri’s first cup game of the tournament, which saw coach Conte rest several key players as they came up against a determined Bologna side.
“We regret having to score in the 95th minute, but I am happy with how the boys behaved on the field,” noted Conte in a post-match interview.
Meanwhile, it was a rare start for new signing Giaccherini and Conte confirmed that he deserves to be in the squad.
“He (Giaccherini) is a guy who completed his apprenticeship and he deserves to stay here at Juventus.
“We want to win this competition and we want to go as far as possible.”
Juventus are the club to have won the Coppa Italia the most, with nine titles and should they win it this year they would become the first team to win it ten times.
