She and her father had one of the most public bitter rifts in showbuisiness when they didn’t speak for seven years.

But after patching things up early last year, its seems Angelina Jolie and her actor father Jon Voight are well and truly back on the right path.

Father and daughter shared a close embrace at tonight’s Los Angeles premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey, Angelina’s directorial début.

The 36-year-old actress looked stunning in a one shouldered navy blue Romona Keveza dress and Jimmy Choo shoes as she stepped on the carpet, with her other leading man Brad Pitt.

Brad, 47, managed to perfectly match his girlfriend’s outfit in a dark blue three-piece Tom Ford suit.

The couple held hands as they posed for photographers on the red carpet at Hollywood’s Arclight Theatre.

She looked pleased to see her father, who is most famous for his Oscar-winning role in 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy.

    The
72-year-old actor who recently appeared in TV series 24, looked equally
happy to see his daughter by his former wife, the late model and
    actress Marcheline Bertrand.

Angelina fell out with her father
after he gave an interview on U.S. television back in 2002, in which he
claimed his daughter, who had just adopted her Cambodian-born son
    Maddox, had ‘serious mental problems’.

    ‘I’m broken-hearted… because I’ve
been trying to reach my daughter and get her help, and I have failed and
    I’m sorry,’ he said.

Angelina responded by cutting off her
father completely, saying that, as a new mother, she did not think it
was healthy to associate with him.

In an interview a year later, she
said Voight’s comments were damaging because they could have affected
    her relationship with Maddox.

Inked: Angelina’s elegant gown showed off some of her many tattoos on her slender arms

‘They could have decided he’s right, she’s crazy, let’s remove that child from her custody, and that’s unforgivable.

    ‘My father and I don’t speak. I don’t
believe that somebody’s family becomes their blood. Because my son’s
    adopted, and families are earned.’

Voight repeatedly tried to regain contact with his daughter, particularly after her mother’s death in 2007.

And finally, with Brad’s blessing, she is said to have responded in late 2009.

It was a proper family affair tonight
with Angelina’s older brother James Haven also in attendance with his
    girlfriend Ashley Reign.

They were also joined by Angelina’s
friend Gwen Stefani who arrived in an unusual patterned all white
    jumpsuit and black strappy sandals.

    In
The Land of Blood and Honey revolves around a Muslim woman named Aija
(Marjanovic)who falls in love with Serbian Daniijel (Kostic).

In the unlikely love story, which opens in American theatres on December 23, Daniijel inadvertently becomes Aija’s jailer when the Bosnians are captured by the Serbs.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Angelina talked about her movie, which is set in 1990s war-torn Bosnia.

‘I’ve always been drawn to war films,’ she said.  ‘I did love directing. If I’m allowed, if I’m accepted, I will do it again. I am still very shy about it.’

She said her experiences as a UN goodwill ambassador providing support and aid for refugees helped give her the idea for the film, which she also wrote.

‘I was going through a period where I was thinking a lot about my 10 years travelling into these situations and all the people I met who had gone through conflict and how their lives were affected,’ she explained.

‘I chose Bosnia because I had been through the area and was very drawn to the region. I just felt I should know more and there should be a discussion.’

And with just weeks to go until Christmas, the star also divulged that she likes to start her Christmas shopping early ‘in case we have to travel somewhere.’

She added: ‘Brad and I were on Amazon.com for the first time a week ago. But we got lost. After an hour, we just shut it off. My brain is too scattered and the wires go in different directions. I’ll stick to catalogues.’
