Ransford Osei
Ghana trialist Ransford Osei will get a run-out for Bloemfontein Celtic when they take on Free State Stars in a friendly on Saturday.
The Black Stars international has spent the last three weeks trying out at the PSL club, but has only just returned to full fitness after an injury and a bout of malaria laid him low.
Celtic are playing Stars in a match dubbed the Reconciliation Challenge and will be the perfect platform for Osei to prove his star quality to coach Clinton Larsen.
Osei was rated as one of the brightest young stars in Africa when he finished as runner-up in the goal-scoring stakes at the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup that was hosted in South Korea.
That led to interest from a number of top European sides, but he has since suffered recurring injury problems that have stunted his development. He was last on the books of current Spanish La Liga side Granada on loan from Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa.
But now after recuperating for the last three months in a Durban hospital after yet more knee problems, the 20-year-old is trying his luck with Celtic as he seeks to get his career back on track.
