Goal : Estudiantes president Enrique Lombardi has affirmed that his top priority is to convince Juan Sebastian Veron to postpone his retirement, while adding that he would like to bring Racing Club coach Diego Simeone back to La Plata in 2012.
Veron, 36, is set to play his final match with the Pincha on Sunday, when the club host Union in the Estadio Unico, however, Estudiantes are keen to see ‘La Bruja’ stay on for another year.
Lombardi admitted that he did not want to see Veron end his career, believing that he could still continue into 2012.
“It is vital for Estudiantes to have Veron keep playing next year. I am very optimistic about this because his team-mates already have him convinced of this,” the chief told Telam on Wednesday afternoon.
“In football terms Sebastian is still impeccable and this can be seen in every game.”
