Enugu -The Managing Director, Capital Oil, Mr Ifeanyi Ubah,  has condoled with the family of Late Ikemba Nnewi Chief Emeka Odumeggwu Ojokwu and Igbos in general

Ubah, one of  hundreds of sympathisers who thronged Ojukwu’s residence on Friday in Enugu, said he was deeply saddened by the death of Ojukwu whom he described as `an icon and a great leader of Ndigbo’.

He noted that the greatest tribute any Igbo man could pay to the deceased, was to uphold the virtues and dreams which Ikemba had for his people.

The former Military Administrator of Borno, retired Col Victor Ozodinobi, on his part, said Ojukwu was an authentic Igbo hero; a good Nigerian, who among his peers, had sufficient courage, a life full of lessons that Ndigbo must document and learn from.

Prof. Patrick Ogbunude, another sympathiser who signed the condolence register said that he was happy that Ojukwu lived a fulfilled life as he used his wealth of experience to fight for the oppressed.

He lamented that Ojukwu died when his service was needed most, especially when Ndigbo were preparing to produce the next president of Nigeria, a cause he had been propagating.

Mr Paul Ngate, Director of Eastern Medical Centre, in his condolence message said, “You were a hero, the great lgbo leader who would stand and speak for the oppressed.

“With you truth is constant, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.

The leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike has been receiving the sympathisers on behalf of the family.

It is expected that Ojukwu’s wife, Bianca will be back to the country on Sunday. (NAN)
