A 50-year-old herbalist has been remanded in prison custody for abducting and defiling a 13-year-old primary four girl at Elubo.
Amponsah Armah’s plea was not taken, and is to appear before the Half-Assini District Magistrate Court again on January 4, 2012.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Moses Kofie, told the court, presided over by Mr. Hans Kofi Kpogo, that on November 17, the girl got missing in Elubo.
He said after unsuccessful efforts by her relatives to trace her, the matter was reported to the Elubo Police.
The prosecution said on November 26, the girl who had been locked up in the accused’s room, was seen by one of her classmates when she came out to attend to nature’s call.
Chief Inspector Kofie said the classmate informed the school authorities, who in turn informed the parents.
The parents also informed the police who went to the accused person’s house and found the girl in one of his rooms.
Chief Inspector Kofie sadi during police investigation, the girl told them that the accused person had had sex with her many times against her will, during her 10-day captivity.
Mr. Armah in his caution statement to the police admitted the offence and promised to be responsible for any pregnancy that might occur.
