A member of the communications team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Benjamin Akyena Brantuo has lampooned the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly engaging in massive corruption while in government.

He said the mismanagement of the economy by the erstwhile Kufuor administration accounts for Ghana’s under-development.

He accuses the NPP of gross financial misconduct and acts bordering on corruption.

Members of the NPP on the other hand, accuse President J.E.A. Mills of presiding over what they say is “massive corruption” and that he has failed to check the menace even though he promised to “treat corruption within an arm’s length”, while he was in opposition.

However, Akyena Brantuo who was representing the government at the popular acclamation of Obuasi District Chief Executive (DCE), John Alexander Ackon as the ruling party’s parliamentary candidate, opined that the country has witnessed so many governments but have never seen any government so corrupt as that of the NPP.

He said so grave has been the level of corruption in the NPP regime that their apparatchiks amassed so much wealth within the shortest time.

Akyena Brantuo noted that the NPP after the gross corruption also poisoned the minds of the people against the NDC so as to get the chance to destroy what the party built over thirty years.

The NDC youth activist stated that during the NDC regime there was accountability and that former President Rawlings did not steal a penny from the state while in office.

Akyena Brantuo in a clarion call to Ghanaians said the Mills-led administration needs more time to deliver on its promises since they are now building what the NPP destroyed in their eight years in office, explaining that the government’s ability to move Ghana to a middle income country is an attestation that President Mills is committed to delivering a Better Ghana.

Brantuo urged Ghanaians never to repeat the mistake of bringing the NPP back to power but vote massively for NDC in 2012.

He said the “All die be die” and “at all cost” mantra by the NPP flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is an indication that he will lose the 2012 general elections and so wants to destabilize the country.

Akyena Brantuo therefore urged Ghanaians to remain steadfast and retain the NDC in power for accelerated growth.
