The Egyptian Stock Exchange (ESE) gained LE4 billion at the start of its trading session Wednesday. The indexes rose due to purchases by Egyptians, Arabs and foreigners amidst optimism over the smooth elections during the first round.
The benchmark EGX 30 index rose to 4047.47 points at a rate of 1.5 percent. The EGX 70 index rose 459.34 points by 1.7 percent. The EGX 100 rose by 1.4 percent to 710.82 points.
Later on the day, the ESE resumes its upward trend for the second straight day, on the back of trouble-free parliamentary elections, offsetting much of their recent losses. The ESE gained LE3.2 billion, to increase its gains to LE16.5 billion in Wednesday and Tuesday sessions.
The benchmark index EGX 30 finished the day up to 0.82 percent, to close at 4,020 points. The broader EGX 70 index of the leading smaller and mid cap enterprises (SME) rose by 0.92 percent to close at 4,55 points.
