Bibiani drivers go to school

    The Safety, Health and Environment Department of the Noble Gold Bibiani Limited (NGBL) and the Ghana Chamber of Mines Inspectorate Division, have organised a public education programme for drivers drawn from the various transport unions in Bibiani in the Western Region.

    The event, held under the theme “Safe driving, yes we can”, besides forming part of this year’s National Road Safety celebration, was also to emphasise on the need for them to ensure accident free driving during the yuletide.

    Topics discussed included, “Vehicular and road safety”, “Regulatory framework in motor traffic”, “Fire safety”, “Practical fire fighting”, “Inspection and servicing of fire extinguishers in vehicles” and “Voluntary breathalyzer alcohol and drug test”.

    Mr. Peter Adiyia, Safety, Health and Environment Manager of Noble Gold Bibiani Limited (NGBL), advised the drivers to abstain from drinking and to strictly observe road safety signs to avoid accidents on the road.

    He pledged the company’s continued support in the education of drivers for them to live up to expectation on the roads.

    The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis Egya-Ennor, bemoaned the high rate of accidents in the area, describing it as the most accident-prone area in the Western Region.

    He advised those applying for driving licences, to go through the due process of acquisition, to avoid fraud and prosecution.

    There were demonstrations in fire fighting and application of road signs during the programme.
