A man arrested in connection with the rape of a six-year-old girl will appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, North West police said.
The 22-year-old man was arrested at Thlabane, near Rustenburg, on Sunday night, Captain Pelonomi Makau said in a statement on Tuesday.
The man asked the child and her eight-year-old friend to walk with him to a shop, where he promised to buy them sweets.
Makau said the man allegedly undressed and tried to rape the older girl, but she escaped.
The six-year-old was then raped. – Sapa
