Professional League Board Chairman, Mr. Welbeck Abra Appiah has reiterated the PLB’s stance to keep to the original calendar for the season.
There were rumours that the PLB had postponed the 7th and 8th week fixtures of the ongoing league in favour of another event but the PLB says the league will go on as scheduled.
According to the PLB boss, the PLB has come under incessant attacks over the postponement of league fixtures and so has decided to keep to a well structured league calendar, he told Asempa Sports.
The PLB boss who was speaking on Asempa Fm’s Sports Morning Show on Wednesday explained that the request to postpone the fixtures came as a result of a proposal by the sponsors of the league.
According to him the sponsors had requested for the postponement of the 7th and 8th week fixtures to make way for a function to launch their brand but his outfit declined.
In a related issue, the PLB boss also said plans were far advanced to get a lot of cameras to the league venues to enable the office capture more actions at the match centers for further deliberations and development of the game.
The reason for the extra cameras is not only for capturing events at trouble spots in the league but to help the PLB to stock their library with match footages, he said. This he believes will make it possible for interested individuals who want match footages for their use have it at a fee.
He also added that clubs which play those matches will be given footages of the matches at the end of the game for future use.
