WORRIED by the recent revelations by the Kwara State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Timothy A. Ibiwoye that a witness at the ongoing Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, Adeniyi Rasaq was not an ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as he claimed under an oath, the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the prosecution of the state’s Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN), Mr Kayode Olawepo for allegedly bringing the witness before the tribunal.
Secretary of the PDP in Kwara, Yemi Afolayan, said in Ilorin that while Rasaq should be prosecuted, other top officials of the ACN such as Olawepo and the governorship candidate of the party in the last elections, Dele Belgore should be held liable for allegedly bringing to the tribunal “someone who is not a witness of truth.”

But Olawepo said the development could not be traced to himself or any member of his party, noting that someone should have done his home work thoroughly at the pre-hearing stage but allegedly failed to do so.
Afolayan said: “The INEC has found out that the witness is not even from Kwara State. He was probably paid by his masters to come and commit perjury at the tribunal. We at the PDP therefore view the development with great concern. Olawepo and Belgore are both liable too.
“We therefore call on the police and State Security Service, (SSS), to investigate this matter and arrest the witness, Olawepo and Belgore and get them prosecuted. We commend the INEC for conducting credible elections in Nigeria.
