Swansea City have agreed a deal with Newcastle United which would see winger Wayne Routledge join the Swans, according to reports.

Sky Sports believe the 26-year-old has agreed personal terms with Brendan Rodgers’ side and is due to undergo a medical on Monday before the transfer is finalised.

Swansea are expected to pay around £1.5 million for the former Crystal Palace and Tottenham player who is surpluss to requirements at Alan Pardew’s side.

Speaking earlier in the week, Rodgers revealed his interest in the player; adding that the club was likely to make another improved bid having failed to agree terms at that stage.

“We’ve had a couple of bids that have gone in,” Rodgers told BBC Sport.

“We think he would fit into our style and excite our supporters. We will wait to see if we can agree a deal.”
