Oxford United 1-0 Everton: James Constable capitalises on criminal mistake by Shane Duffy to notch shock win

Oxford United put in a solid performance to end their pre-season campaign with a shock 1-0 win against a weakened Everton side.

James Constable netted the winner for the home side in a match against a Toffees team packed with young talent.

Everton youngster Femi Oregnuga had his attempt blocked in the early stages of the match by Ryan James who partnered Michael Durberry in defence.

Damian Batt came close with a powerfully struck shot but Everton’s Adam Davies got a hand to the shot.

Everton proved profligate throughout the match as Barkley missed a golden opportunity just after half-time which United soon capitalized on. Constable latched on to a mistake by Duffy and smashed a shot past a helpless Davies from the edge of the box.

Everton failed to get back into the game and United almost made it 2-0 with a Craddock attempt but was blocked by Duffy.
