    The 1st Maryam Babangida Memorial junior tennis tournament serves off tomorrow on the courts of the Minna Tennis Club, Niger State. It climaxes on August 6 at the same venue.

    Disclosing this yesterday, Chairman of El Amin Foundation, Mohammed Babangida, said that the event was aimed at unearthing talented players from the nooks and crannies of the country.

    Babangida said that the Foundation was compelled to sow into the tennis event because of the poor state of the game in the country.

    He said that the tourney will cater for youths in two age groups ; 12 and under, 14 and under which is further broken into four categories of 12 and under boys and girls, and 14 and under boys and girls respectively.

    Prizes to be given to winners will include tennis racket bags, tennis rackets, tennis wears and a scholarship for the winner in each category.

    Provision has been made for free feeding and accommodation for all the players and their coaches throughout the period of the championship.
