Namibia Premier League side, Cymot SKW will begin preparations for the 2011/2012 season next week Monday, Lesley Kakuva, head coach of the club, said in a statement released this week.
Kakuva said all players of the team are expected to report for camp by 18:30 at the SKW Sport Field in Windhoek. The team will play trial matches for almost two weeks to select the final 24 players to be registered for the upcoming football season.
“In several strategy meetings held during the past weeks, it was decided to have a wind of change so that the team will be revamped completely, with lots of young players to take over from the not-so-hungry regulars.
“The whole world is following this route, our national team introduced young players, so the Olympia boys are following this trend. This strategy gives more stability to both players and the club in view of commitment and loyalty,” Kakuva explained.
The coach also announced that Harry Januarie, who has been working with the team since 2007, will be part of the first team coaching staff as goalkeeper trainer. Januarie had a two-year coaching training with the SKW academy before being exposed to the Namibian Premier League.
“The coaching staff will be completed by several coaches from the youth academy who will assist the Cymot SKW head coach during the season if needed,” Kakuva said.
Former club chairperson, Jochen Traut, will act as the team manager, while his position as the club’s chairperson will be vacant until a suitable candidate is found at the club’s annual general meeting to be held next month.
SKW will from this season have a feeder team playing in the country’s second division in order to develop young players, as well as ensure that injured players recover fast.
Cymot SKW finished in seventh position with 31 points on the 2010/2011 MTC Namibia Premier League table.
