According to Sir John, the President as the leader and the first gentleman of the country must “ensure that this country is free from the insults that he (President Mills) eschews”.
Sir John also added that “charity begins at home and he must first call his troops to order. These insults have emanated largely from the NDC’s camp and unfortunately for us we have a President who rewards people who insult and the more insult you heap on the NPP the better your chances of being rewarded, so we have people who have been made deputy Ministers in his administration who are insulting people day and night.”
Sir John made the comments on the Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday July 28, in reaction to condemnations by President Mills on the increasing spate of ‘the politics of insults’ which he described was decaying the moral fibre of the country.
President John Mills in receiving a delegation from the Methodist Church of Ghana condemned yet again, the insults that has crept into the political discourse in the media.
The recent such insult came from an NPP youth activist John Kumah who alleged that the President and the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Ato Ahwoi were homosexuals.
Sir John however noted that the NPP flagbearer has been an object of ridicule and insult from members of the NDC but nobody from the NDC for that matter has called any of the castigators to book.
He said if President Mills “is able to call everybody to order, If the hawks and the troops in the NDC would listen to him, I believe that the insults would stop”.
