THE ABLEKUMA Central delegates of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the Greater Accra Region are being restrained from partaking in a regional congress of the political grouping.

In a writ filed by Lawyer Sammy Agbodo, plaintiffs Gilbert Kponton, Karl Kpodo, Win Akpabey, Harrison Bankoley, Abdul Rahman Ramzy and Daniel Owusu Yeboah are seeking an Accra High Court’s order for an interlocutory injunction to prevent the executives from holding themselves as delegates of the constituency in a regional congress of the party.

The court would be moved on 1st August 2011 and the plaintiffs maintain that the said executives are in office illegally and therefore unqualified to hold themselves as delegates with the purpose of partaking in a regional congress.

Plaintiffs claim that the election of the Ablekuma Central constituency executives on 18th July 2011 was unlawful.

Plaintiffs are therefore praying for an order for perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from recognizing the delegates from the Ablekuma Central constituency as lawful representatives of the said constituency for the purposes of the impending regional delegates’ conference of the party.
