Valencia technical secretary Bralui Vazquez is hopeful that Juan Mata will stay at the club despite making back-up plans for his departure.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal have all registered a interest in the Spanish international with the Gunners leading the way for the midfielder’s signature.

Vazquez is determined to keep his side’s top players at the Mestalla and has insisted they have not received any bids as of yet.

Vazquez told regional sports daily SuperDeporte: “I hope that he will stay with Valencia and I think he will do so. We have not received any offers for him so far.

“However, we have a back-up plan in case he leaves. That’s not just the case for Juan, though. We have a plan like that for every player. We have to be prepared if something happens.”

The technical secretary stated Mata has been unaffected by the transfer talk and believes he will stay faithful to the club.

“Juan is very calm and doesn’t get carried away,” he added. “Of course, the rumours don’t go unnoticed, but there is absolutely no doubt about his commitment to Valencia,” he said.
