MORE than 200 street children in Nakuru have benefitted from a three-months training. This will empower them with skills to enable them get jobs and move out of streets. The initiative dubbed ‘achievement program’ seeks to equip the street youths with skills that will enable them initiate income generating activities with minimum capital to help them be economically independent.
The project coordinator Geoffrey Esebwe said the street children have their hopes in better life renewed after the government in collaboration with a local businessman sponsored their three months training. Presiding over the graduation yesterday, the programme patron and prominent local businessman peter Kinya urged local residents and other development partners within the county not to condemn the street youths.
