With only two weeks until the start of the new Premier League season, new MC signing Sergio Aguero has claimed he will have no problems settling into Roberto Mancini’s side, or life in England
The Argentinean made the switch from Atletico Madrid to City on Thursday for £35 million plus add-ons, but only has a fortnight to acclimatise. And this after seeing his international side flop at the Copa America this month.
But the 23-year-old insists he will have no problem and is raring to get involved.
“I’m sure I’ll settle in well to the team,” he told his new club’s website. “I don’t think I’ll need to change my style.
“I’ll obviously be doing my best to do what the manager says, and try to work the way he wants me to, and of course he will know how he wants to use me.
“Obviously I can’t say for sure because I haven’t even made my debut yet, but I’m sure everything will be fine. I’ll be relaxed about it.
“I think I’ll adapt to life in England – I don’t like hot weather, so I’ll be fine there.
“I’m sure I’m going to enjoy myself here and life will be fine.”
His first competitive involvement could be against cross-town rivals Manchester United in the Community Shield next Sunday, and the new No.16 believes his team can upset their rivals.
“I think it’s a clasico, a derby that every fan wants to see,” he added. “People count down the days to the match.
“Of course there has to be a winner, but you have to be happy and enjoy it as well as focusing because you know it’s an important game.
“Someone has to win, and all the better if it’s us.
“They’re always difficult games, they are great to play in, and let’s hope people enjoy them.
He added: “I saw the FA Cup victory over Stoke in May, and it’s clear that from now on this is a team that will be competing for important things every year.
“Let’s hope that there will be quite a few trophies.
“Pablo Zabaleta has told me a lot about the squad.
“He’s told me everyone is happy, so when I get a chance to meet up with my team-mates, I’ll be able to see exactly what they’re like.
“But I’ve only heard good things about them and can’t wait to get to know them.
“After talking to Zabaleta, I asked my agents to do everything possible because this was a good club, a club I like, and I’d always wanted to play in the Premier League.”
Aguero will now link up with his City team-mates ahead of this weekend’s Dublin Super Cup.
