QPR’s Bradley Orr is pleased Adel Taarabt will be staying at Loftus Road this summer.

The Moroccan midfielder was heavily linked with a move away but the club’s board recently confirmed he was going nowhere after a switch to Paris Saint-Germain fell through.

“Adel is super-talented and it was good to see him back out there,” Orr told QPR’s official website after Taarabt made his first appearance of pre-season against Cesena on Wednesday.

“He’s our captain and our talisman and he makes things happen.

“He can turn a game on the drop of a hat, so it’s positive that he’s staying.”

22-year-old Taarabt scored 19 goals as the R’s secured the Championship title last year, and was made club captain by manager Neil Warnock.

“No-one really knew what Adel’s situation was over the summer,” Orr conceded.

“We didn’t know whether he’d stay or go, but like I say, with Adel Taarabt on the pitch, we’re always going to create chances and that can only be a positive for Queens Park Rangers Football Club.”

And with Taarabt’s situation settled, former Bristol City full-back Orr, who moved to Loftus Road last summer, admits he can’t wait for the Premier League season to get under way.

“I’m feeling good and so are the rest of the lads,” he said.

“There’s improvements to be made, like there always is in pre-season, but as a group we’re really looking forward to the start of the season.

“It’s something to savour for us all and we can’t wait now – we’re counting down the days.”

Orr also praised the team spirit at the club, adding: “We’ve got such a good dressing room that whoever is here and whoever the Manager adds to the squad, they’ll be welcomed on board and we’ll make them feel at home.

“Team spirit was massive last year.

“We’ve got men in this dressing that would die for each other.

“There’s winners in this dressing room and when you know you can look a team-mate in the eye and see he’s given everything for the cause, that makes for a really positive spirit.

“That will be a massive factor for us over the course of the season.”

The 28-year-old will get his first taste of Premier League football when QPR kick off their season at home to Bolton.
