Asaba—DELTA State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Misan Ukubeyinje, has allayed fears in some quarters that the N3 billion Obasanjo-Delta State Government joint farm project will be abandoned.
Ukubeyinje stated this shortly after inspecting the farm at Ogwashi-Uku as part of his familiarisation visit to parastatals and facilities under the Ministry.
Delta State Government had on June 16, 2010, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited in Otta, Ogun State, to develop agriculture in the state.
He commended the state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, for the initiative, describing the partnership in which Delta State has one-third equity holding “as laudable and a catalyst for agricultural revolution in the state.”
The Commissioner said: “The farm will provide a ready market for high quality feeds, table eggs, processed chicken as well as day-old chicks when it starts operating at full capacity.”
He said the venture was capable of offering employment to 300 youths.
