The American side’s director is former Old Trafford legend Eric Cantona, and it was he and honorary president, Pele, who assembled the 17-man squad.
Within the side, former Manchester United players Gary Neville and Nicky Butt will be joined by ex-Fulham striker Brian McBride, fellow American Brad Friedel, Sol Campbell, Michel Salgado and Tottenham’s Robbie Keane.
They will be joined in the line-up by eight members of the Cosmos’ Under-23 squad.
This will be the first match the Cosmos will have played since 1985 after they dissolved, and will take place on August 5, two days before the Community Shield which sees Sir Alex Ferguson’s side take on Manchester City.
