RWANDA have called off their friendly against Liberia, Times Sport has learnt.

The game had been scheduled for August 10, but the local football governing body (Ferwafa) insists that the timing is not right.

“Right now, it’s the off season so players are not in the right physical condition to play a friendly,” Ferwafa’s CEO Jules Kalisa explained.

The match was supposed to serve as a build-up for next month’s 2012 African Nations Cup return leg qualifier against Group H leaders Ivory Coast.

The Elephants are expected to play Israel in a friendly on August 10 at Praille stadium in Switzerland.

Ivory Coast sealed their slot at next year’s CAN after last month’s 6-2 victory over Benin. The win took them to 12 points and maintained their 100 per cent record in the campaign.

Benin and Burundi are tied on four points while Rwanda languishes at the bottom with three points.
