LACK of reliable markets has been listed among setbacks for entrepreneurs and undermine efforts by Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) to conquer poverty.
Speaking to participants during an entrepreneurship training workshop in Dar es Salaam on Monday, the SIDO Director General, Mr Mike Laizer, said marketing knowledge was needed to develop the sector.
“The entrepreneurs should be aware of markets before embarking on production for sustainable development of the business,” said the SIDO Director General.
He said lack of enough capital was another setback for entrepreneurship development.
Earlier on Monday, the Training Manager, Mr Noah Wandera, hailed the SIDO initiatives to alleviate poverty in the country and that the organization had helped many entrepreneurs to overcome challenges facing business.
The one week training which is jointly organized by SIDO and UN-Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is aiming at providing the entrepreneurs with information on how to address different challenges facing the sector.
Established in October 1973, SIDO is the parastatal organization under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
