Enugu Rangers’ rampant form continued Sunday after they spanked Niger Tornadoes 4-0 with striker Brendan Ogbu smashing a brace.

The home win consolidated ‘The Flying Antelopes’ fifth place as they now have 53 points from 32 matches with a game in hand.

Ogbu has also moved up in the goals’ race as he has now scored 11 goals.

It was therefore a very ecstatic Rangers coach Alphonsus Dike after the match at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

“With what I have seen recently in the boys I believe they have started playing as a unit who are desperate to win something for our fans and themselves,” Dike told MTNFootball.com

Ogbu opened scoring after 20 minutes, before experienced midfielder John Nnam made it 2-0 on 40 minutes, before Ogbu again struck a minute to halftime.

Kola Abegunde wrapped up another big home win for Rangers six minutes to the end.

Sunday was also a good day for the strugglers as both Bukola Babes and Zamfara recorded home victories.

Bukola pipped relegation-troubled crown FC 1-0 as Zamfara also turned back Heartland by the odd goal.

Zamfara have thus leapfrogged both Crown and Ocean Boys and are now 16th with 36 points.

Bukola have now turned the corner after a poor run of form and are 11th on the table with 45 points.

However, the match involving Ocean Boys and Lobi Stars was not played after the visiting Makurdi claimed they fear for their lives after former player Okey Akabogu tried to arrest Lobi officials and players in Yenagoa over unpaid entitlements.

The executive secretary of the NPL, Tunji Babalola, told MTNFootball.com that he is awaiting reports on this match to be able to decide the next action.
