Gambian striker Ousman Jallow has made a rare move to Turkey, signing a two-year deal with second tier club Çaykur Rizespor’da yesterday evening.

The Gambia international was shown the exit door with five others after the end of their contract terms with Danish giants Brondby, and as a result, the 22-year-old was left un-contracted for many months.

A number of clubs were keen on the former Chelsea and Arsenal target, but Ous, who was part of Gambia’s record-breaking U-17 side, opted for a tryout with the Turkish club and did enough to convince the club board.

At a conference arraigned yesterday evening, Çaykur Rizespor’da agreed on personal terms with the free-scoring Ous and thus signed a two-year deal.

Detail of Jallow’s signing worth 660,000 pounds were not made public at time of writing this piece.

The former Wallidan front man was mooted with a move to Germany at the end of the first part of the season before he shunned a transfer to an unnamed French club last month.

Ous bagged in three goals in his new club preseason.

Arsenal and Chelsea both chased Jallow and they almost bought him, but because of troubles with the residence/work permit, Jallow did not become an Arsenal or Chelsea player.

Çaykur Rizespor’da is a Turkish sports club based in Rize. Çaykur Rizespor’da is currently playing in the TFF First League. The club was founded in 1953 in green-yellow colours and had professional ship status in 1968 as Rizespor and changed its colours to blue-green. Since 1990, the team has been sponsored by the Turkish tea company Çaykur hence the name and the image of a tea leaf on the club’s logo. The Turkish club finished fourth on the second division club but could not make it in the play-offs.
