Roma have turned their attention to Manchester City full-back Pablo Zabaleta as they continue their search for defensive reinforcements ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, according to the Daily Mail.

The Stadio Olimpico side are allegedly ready to make a €7 million (£6.1m) offer for the Argentina international, but City appear to be reluctant to let go of the player and it is unlikely they will accept the Italian club’s initial offer.

New Roma coach Luis Enrique is looking to add a new right-back to his squad to fight it out with Marco Cassetti for a starting berth and the Spanish boss sees Zabaleta as the perfect addition.

Zabaleta, who still has three years to run on his contract, joined City from Espanyol in the summer of 2008 and has since made over 100 appearances.

Roma have been rather active on the transfer market in recent weeks and are expected to complete the transfers of River Plate’s Erik Lamela, Bojan Krkic from Barcelona, Jose Angel of Sporting Gijon and Espanyol’s Carlos Kameni in the upcoming days.
