The much awaited Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash between arch-rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will finally be played on July 24 at the Nyayo stadium. The match has been postponed on two occasions due to unavailability of proper venue.
KPL yesterday said all arrangements are in place with the first pre-event meeting having been held yesterday to deliberate on ticketing and security. Ticketing will be handled by Ticket Masters while security will be installed by a combination of regular police, Administration Police, National Youth Service and the usual Gor Mahia stewards. Tickets will go for Sh500 for the VIP stand and Sh200 for the terraces. Last year, a clash between the two teams ended prematurely on October 23 as fans seeking to gain entry to the stadium the caused a stampede that left several people dead and scores injured.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia executive committee will meet branch leaders on July 30 in Nairobi to discuss all crowd trouble that has been affecting their matches season. The club will also hold a major fund raising ceremony on September 4 towards the payment of a Sh1.7m slapped on the club by KPL.
