Bookmakers still forecast Inter’s Wesley Sneijder to join Manchester United at short odds

Bookmakers have not been put off by the Wesley Sneijder transfer saga, pricing the Dutchman at a short 1.20 to join Manchester United before the summer transfer window closes.

The Inter midfielder has dominated headlines this week with the will he/won’t he story continuing to generate major interest. Sneijder has enjoyed a trophy rich two-year stint in Serie A which has alerted many of Europe’s top clubs chasing his signature.

Punters can back the Red Devils to finally get their man @ 1.20 followed by Chelsea @ 4.50. A move to the Blues was mooted when Guus Hiddink was tipped to take over as manager but new recruit Andre Villas Boas is chasing Luka Modric instead.

United’s local rivals Manchester City are 8.0 to make an audacious late bid and ensure Sneijder ends up in Manchester for sure. Arsenal and Tottenham are much longer shots @ 41.0 and neither have been suggested as potential new employers for the 27-year old.

Since leaving Ajax in 2007 the gifted international has played in Spain and Italy. A return to La Liga to join European champions Barcelona is trading @ 34.0 with a move to Real Madrid running at a similar price. Sneijder played at the Bernabeu for two seasons before departing under a cloud in 2009. He remains a firm favourite of Madrid boss Jose Mourinho for whom he excelled under at Inter during their treble winning 2009-10 season.
