Onitsha — National Vice President of Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Anambra State chapter, Dauda Ajagu, has described the activities of the Boko Haram sect now ravaging many parts of Northern Nigeria and Abuja as unIslamic.

Ajagu, who addressed the press in Onitsha on Wednesday, said that “all the atrocities Boko Haram sect is committing in this country” are not in line with the teachings of the Quo’ran.

Ajagu who condemned the insecurity orchestrated by the bombings, killings, burning by the sect, indicted politicians, who, he said are backing the hoodlums, warning that nobody is above the law.

Ajagu said that the purpose of Boko Haram was to destabilise and sabotage the government of President Goodluck Jonathan, even as he urged Nigerian security outfits, especially the army, to wake up to the challenge.

His words: “I urge the law enforcement agencies, particularly the army, to dispatch a brigade of combatant soldiers to the affected areas where Boko Haram operates. They want the destruction of this country. These people are not spirits. They are ordinary people like us”, said Ajagu.

He challenged the National Assembly to enact a law that will deal with the menace of the sect or any other group trying to dismember the country through violence.
