QPR manager Neil Warnock concedes that the future of star player Adel Taarabt is very much out of his control and says the Moroccan could leave the newly promoted club.

The young midfielder has been heavily linked with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain during the summer and it is understood a bid of around £13.5 million has been offered for the 22-year-old’s services.

Warnock has made no secret that he wants the player to stay at Loftus Road after he played huge part in the team’s Championship title success last year, however, the former Sheffield United boss admits the decision will not be his to make, with co-owner Flavio Briatore having the final say on whether the playmaker will be allowed to leave.

“We don’t really know at the moment,” Warnock told Sky Sports News.

“I think Flavio is dealing with the transfers in and out and I think he’s dealing with PSG.

“Thankfully for me it’s not down to me. Flavio is going to make the final decision on what money he accepts. They’re close to making an offer.

“Whether it’s enough for Flavio I don’t know, but he’ll be telling me as and when he either goes or if he’s definitely staying.

“We don’t know whether he’s going to go or stay, it’s up in the air at the moment.

“We’re quite optimistic either way. If we lost him it would be easier for me in some respects, the money would come in handy, but I don’t think we’ll spend any of it.”

The youngster is thought to been on a move to France, where his family lives, and Warnock has compared the situation to that of Luka Modric’s at Tottenham.

He added: “With his family all in France, and his girlfriend there as well, there’s so many things to taunt you. He’s going to be at a top club, on massive money.

“It’s like anything else, your Modric and all these other situations. It’s very difficult to keep players once their heads have been turned.

“But he’s training hard, he’s really doing well and he knows if doesn’t go, then what better stage than the Premier League to put his talents on show.”
