The Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) on Tuesday objected to the dialogue of the Federal Government with the Boko Haram people, stating that the Islamic group does not deserve any glove treatment.

The Secretary General of the convention, Dr. Olasupo Ayokunle added that the continued onslaught of the group against Nigerians was a manifestation of the failure of the government.

“The unabated bombings vis- a- vis government assurances of the populace of the security of their lives and property seem to suggest that the government is not on top of the situation.

According to Ayokunle “dialogue should be the last resort and it should even come after the group “might have served out the punishment for their heinous crimes. At Baptist convention, our position is that they should be brought to book first for their bad acts.

He added, “they don’t deserve any form of dialogue or glove treatment. They have committed crime against humanity. They should be brought to book.

The Baptist chief maintained the government has lost control of the security situation of the country. “It has called to question the ability of the security agencies to quell the Boko Haram uprising.

Ayokunle argued that the Islamic sect fundamentalists have an option “not to send their wards to school for western education but they have no right to be bombing places, properties and innocent citizens, especially places of worship of other religious adherents that are not theirs.

The Baptist convention official maintained that the activities of the fundamentalists portray them as people without the fear of God and people that attach no value to peaceful co-existence, human life and dignity. “If it is religion that has drawn them to that extreme, then such a religious belief must be seen as undesirable at all in this country because in Nigeria, we value peace and human life. No one has the power to create human.
