Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor has reiterated his desire to leave the club and complete a move to Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old is still hopeful that the capital giants will agree a deal to sign him on a permanent basis and end his ill-fated spell at Eastlands.

The former Arsenal man enjoyed a loan spell with Jose Mourinho’s side in the second half of last season, scoring five goals in 14 appearances, and stressed he would jump at the opportunity to rejoin his former team-mates.

”We Adebayor and Mourinho talked before we went on vacation,” Adebayor told Spanish publication Marca.

“If he called me right now, I would catch the first plane out to Los Angeles and if I could play three or four years in Madrid and I would retire with the club.

“I do not want find another exit other than to return to Real Madrid. I am waiting for their call, hopefully it will occur.”

Adebayor also says Mourinho is the best coach he has played under, and is tipping Real to win more silverware under him in years to come.

“He is the best coach I’ve worked with,” he added.

“No doubt about it, and Madrid will win titles with him.

“He now has control of the club and it is being designed to his template.

“He gave me confidence and made me believe in myself and I enjoyed my football again.”

Adebayor is currently training twice a day on his own after being left out of City’s pre-season tour of the USA by Roberto Mancini.

Mourinho confirmed this week that the capital club were closer to signing Adebayor than Neymar, while Real have also been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero and Adebayor’s City team-mate Carlos Tevez.
