Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is considering a move for Uruguay centre-back Sebastian Coates, according to The Guardian.
The 20-year-old has had an impressive season for Uruguayan champions Nacional, and earned a call up for the Copa America.
However, Coates’ growing reputation has increased his price tag, and Arsenal and Liverpool are now also reportedly interested in the youngster.
The South American was linked with a £3.1 million move to Porto last year, but as the deal fell through he decided to stay at his current side, who now value him at £20m.
City have recently signed Stefan Savic from Partizan Belgrade for £6m, but Mancini may be on the lookout for another defender as Jerome Boateng is expected to leave the club.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be interested in the Uruguayan, while the Gunners have also been linked with moves for Blackburn’s Christopher Samba and Bolton’s Gary Cahill.
