Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says new signing Ashley Young is fitting in well at the club.

Young, who completed his switch from Aston Villa last month, made his debut in a 4-1 pre-season friendly win against New England Revolution.

Ferdinand told Sky Sports News: “It’s always great to see new signings, and young, hungry ones like we’ve got.

“We saw Ashley Young out there today. He’s come in and fit in really well, so it’s good.“

The former England captain said that Young’s assuredness and experience of working with some of his new team-mates for his country has made it easier for him to bed in.

“He’s a relaxed lad, he’s confident in his own ability,” said Ferdinand.

“He’s known a few of the lads so this is an easy squad for him to integrate into.

“There’s not a bad lad here.”

As well as Young, Sir Alex Ferguson has signed Phil Jones from Blackburn and David de Gea from Atletico Madrid.
