The July edition of the Barclays Bank sponsored Achimota monthly medal golf comes on at the club’s course on Saturday, with a respectable expected patronage.
The competition, which is in its second year continues to attract a sizeable number of golfers from friendly courses each month, with the introduction of UT sponsored competition in which winners of the Barclays medal get automatic qualification to the master’s event.
One such innovative attraction is the inclusion of the guest player category and the special nine-hole competition for the aging golfers.
It is interesting to note how would-be competitors defy the highly unstable weather to join the event, and it is highly probable that come what may, Saturday’s event will receive yet another good attendance.
Key on the list of participants will be the current club captain Rene Kwame, immediate past captain, Mike Aggrey, CEO of Barclays, Ben Dabrah, Vincent Cofie, K. Kusi Boateng, M. Johers, F. Akafo, Major (rtd.) John Nyen, Y.S. Leegarand and J. Ane, some of whom performed creditably at the June edition of the tournament.
From Tema will be ever present E.T. Mensah and a couple from Bok-Nam Kim and Celebrity golf courses to spice the day.
The ladies segment will certainly have the likes of Leticia Amponsah Mensah, Sampaney Gambrah, E Amoah, Margaret Anderson, Florence Etwi-Barimah and Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong, among others.
