The Gambia Football Association under the leadership of its president, Seedy MB Kinteh, has donated 24 sets of football jerseys to some women football clubs, at a ceremony held at the Gambia Football Association’s Football House in Kanifing on Monday evening.
The donated jerseys according to the GFA president will go to all 24 clubs under the country’s football governing body; which include a total of 12 first and second division clubs and the 12 regional teams. Speaking at the occasion, the president of the GFA, Seedy Kinteh revealed that the reason behind the move was to help the female clubs so as to encourage them in the male dominant sports.
The GFA boss went further to reveal that his association is not only interested in developing male football in the country but that it is also their desire to see to it that female football is taken to another level. The beneficiary clubs are: Waterman Football Club, W F Football Club, Gamcom Football Club, Brikamaba Football Club, Jarra West Football Club, Jah Oil Football Club, Tendaba Football Club, Rising Stars Football Club, Upper Badibou Football Club, Chakubantang Football Club, Lower Nuimi Football Club and Jalikasa Football Club.
The beneficiary female clubs from the country’s main first and second division clubs are: Abuko United Football Club, Armed Forces, City Girls, Company Ten, Future BI, Immigration, Interior, Jam City, Jeshwang United, Kinteh’s, Makasutu and Red Scorpions football clubs.
