Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) has selected four runners to represent the country at the World Youth Championships due July 6-10 in Lille, France.
Phillip Kipyeko, Nancy Cheptengei, Halima Nakaayi and Zakaria Kiprotich are leaving for France tomorrow where they will compete alongside more than 1,300 athletes from 175 countries. All competitors must be aged 17 and below.
Kiprotich, who won a 2000m steeplechase bronze medal at last year’s Youth Olympics in Singapore, has another chance to shine on the big stage.
Coach George Palanda is travelling with the team and will be hoping that Kiprotich pulls off another impressive performance.
Nakaayi, a member of the Olympic Solidarity Programme, will try to make a mark at the event.
