And several residents of Senanga district have commended President Rupiah Banda’s government for the various projects that the government is undertaking in the area.

Mr Muwanei said in Senanga yesterday that government’s focus on road and other infrastructure development would open the district to investment in various economic sectors such as tourism and agriculture.

“Senanga as I have indicated is one of the lucky districts that is benefiting from the fruits of this government. You can’t develop without proper road infrastructure. And that is why this government’s focus on infrastructure development is commendable,” he said.

He said the completion of the K800 billion Senanga – Sesheke road would open up the area for more investment as the road will open up the country to the SADC region.

Mr Muwanei told Journalists after a tour of developmental projects in the district that he was happy with the progress on the road.

“The contractor China New Era is doing a very commendable job as you may know that this was virgin land. This road is being constructed from scratch and am happy that the works are going on very well,” he said.

“That is why we get surprised to hear some people saying government is doing nothing because it is evident that this is a very hard working government. We have schools like Lubosi, Sunda which are now full fledged schools.

“Government has also built heal centres. There is one at Situnga and one is also under construction in Liachi,” he said.

In the agriculture sector, Mr Muwanei said the district was now able to sale some produce to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) because of the government’s Farmer Input Support Program (FISP).

“In the past Senanga was providing nothing for sale to FRA but during the last season we sold 1500 bags of maize and 3, 000 bags of rice to FRA. One can say these are insignificant figures but it is a good start for us. We are have some consumption,” he said.
