A 49-year-old man escaped death narrowly after police saved him from a lynch mob. The man is alleged to have been caught raping a mother of two in Katimu area of Mau Narok. He is said to have drilled a hole on the woman’s mud house to gain entry into the woman’s bedroom.

Nakuru chief police boss Johnston Ipara said the suspect raped the woman as her children watched. Ipara said the suspect gagged but one of her children ran out called for help. “Neighbours responded immediately and pounced on him before the escaped,” Ipara said.

The police on patrol from Njoro police station were informed and rushed to rescue the man from the angry mob. He is set to appear in court today.
