Luanda — The National Police have outlined strategies that will enable the reduction of capacity and initiatives of criminals, said Wednesday in Luanda the corporation’s General Commander, AmbrÃ’sio de Lemos.
The Commissioner-General was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 8th Broad Consultative Council of the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR), happening under the theme “PIR, readiness, dynamism and efficiency”.
According to the source, in the beginning of this year, having into account the worrying rise in criminality, particularly in Luanda, the corporation decided to define strategies that should bring about a reduction in the capacity and initiative of criminals and established parameters that will give society greater security and tranquillity.
He revealed that the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR) will continue to undergo a restructuring process, with a view to adapting to the country’s current socio-political context.
“The success of our action in this domain depends on the efficacy of the contingency plans and the solidity of the co-ordination and collaboration actions with other police forces, in tasks of maintaining order, actions against violent criminality, protection of premises with strategic importance and providing security to top personalities” explained the police chief.
On his turn, the commander of PIR, Commissioner Alfredo Lourenço Quintino “Nilo”, said that it is paramount to maintain the levels of organisation, readiness and discipline, which have always guided the work of the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR).
