NIGHT and early morning temperatures are expected to remain hovering around zero across the country for the next week.
The Namibia Meteorological Service says temperatures will drop further today in the South as another cold front arrives.
“Very cold temperatures” will remain across most parts of the country for the next five days, weather forecaster Olga Tjiueza said, especially at night and in the early morning hours.
Tomorrow, “temperatures will warm up slowly again,” Tjiueza said, but the “mild” weather will not last long.
By Sunday another cold front will hit Namibia.
Tjiueza warned that a “significant drop in temperatures” is expected in the south on Sunday, spreading further north later.
The cold front will bring moisture along, and the extreme south could experience light showers.
During the past week, Windhoek recorded minus seven degrees Celsius at the Hosea Kutako Airport. Rehoboth recorded minus four degrees on Friday, Gobabis minus 6, Mariental and Aranos both measured minus four degrees on Friday.
The northern parts of the country have recorded record low temperatures, ranging from minus three at Okongo on Monday to minus seven degrees in the Kavango Region.
